The College of Saint Rose invites applications and nominations for an Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Thelma P. Lally School of Education, beginning August 2023. This is a full time, tenure track position.

The Thelma P. Lally School of Education boasts thousands of alumni in educational and clinical settings throughout the world changing lives through expert teaching, therapy, counseling, and administration. The Communication Sciences and Disorders department has been accredited by the Council of Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association since 1992.

Responsibilities will include teaching 12 credits (3 courses) per semester of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders, with a focus on courses in medical speech-language pathology, from among the following classes:

• CSD 204: Anatomy and Physiology of Speech and Hearing

• CSD 530: Adult Language Disorders

• CSD 535: Motor Speech Disorders

• CSD 536: Swallowing and its Disorders

• CSD 537: Acquired Cognitive Communication Disorders

• CSD 550: Topics in Medical Aspects of Communication Disorders

Additionally, responsibilities include contributing to the continuing development and refinement of the Communication Sciences and Disorders program, engaging in scholarship, attending internal and external events applicable to the College and the candidate's academic discipline, academic advising, program assessment, curriculum development, and participation in Department, School, and College committees. Opportunities for clinical supervision will be available. The Assistant Professor will also have an opportunity to teach graduate courses during the summer months.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited institution in Speech-Language Pathology, or a closely related academic field, at the time of appointment on August 14, 2023.

An ABD from an accredited institution in Speech-Language Pathology, or a closely related academic field, will be considered if the degree will be completed within 1 year from date of appointment.

Additional requirements include a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology or related allied health discipline; a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, a record of scholarly work or professional impact in the field of speech-language pathology, demonstrated experience working with a diverse student population, superior written and oral communication skills and, if selected to advance, a successful demonstration of teaching ability and scholarship during the on campus interview.

The Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (or equivalent credential for international candidates and allied health professionals) and New York State License in Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility for license are required.
