Building and operating data centers the "right" way from the day they go live is synonymous with ensuring capacity availability and capital conservatism. Architecting, constructing, operating and continually innovating the telecommunications and structured cabling infrastructure within our data centers is fundamental to ensuring high availability, the capacity to meet our extreme growth demands and obtaining the most robust and cost-effective online service in the world! Facebook is seeking a seasoned professional to join our Global Facilities Operations Support Team as an LMR-PSS DAS Engineer. The candidate will deliver a diverse range of technical content for internal and external-wide communications. The LMR-PSS DAS Engineers support Distributed Antenna System (DAS) pre-deployment, deployment and post-deployment activities by performing site walks, RF surveys, benchmarking, data collection, integration, commissioning, acceptance testing, optimization, troubleshooting and repair of LMR/PSS sites and hardware systems. In addition, they also provide on-site technical support and act as a liaison between Facebook, AHJ and internal partners such as Data Center Design, Infrastructure Construction Management, Global Security, Data Center Facilities Engineering Team, Data Center Facilities Operations Team, Procurement, and Logistics teams. The candidate will also provide timely status updates to their key stakeholders regarding delivery progress. Experience in project management, process improvement or proficiency in data center operations is a plus. The candidate must be able to develop key documents and templates for the Facilities Operations Organization.

Required Skills:

  1. Serve as the key technical subject-matter expert for complex in-building DAS solutions.

  2. Serve as the key technical subject-matter expert for LMR system design (DMR/P25/Tetra).

  3. Review system designs and survey data to ensure coverage/building requirements are met.

  4. Review calculations of antenna gain, line loss & amplification as well as analyze various coverage data collected.

  5. Direct or perform system testing utilizing scanners, spectrum analyzers, power meters, optical test equipment and other testing tools.

  6. Review commissioning and test reports to ensure they met coverage requirements.

  7. Serve as a resource to troubleshoot system issues in adherence with proper escalation paths.

  8. Provide training & technical support to other employees & contractors.

  9. Write, illustrate, and edit technical documentation for Facebook's Global Facility Operations Support team.

  10. Engage with cross functional subject matter experts to collect requirements and technical content and then translate data into a consumable, functional work product.

  11. Serve as a resource to provide installation support to field personnel and contractors and participate pre-construction walk through activities.

  12. Maintain existing documentation for organization, content, technical accuracy, relevance and style.

  13. Expedite revisions, corrections and changes to previously published documentation.

  14. Develop key process metrics, gather and analyze data to identify and organize process improvement opportunities.

  15. Develop and lead effective communication strategies

  16. run weekly syncs to maintain proactive stance/awareness about issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or commensurate experience

  2. 8+ years experience in RF design, planning, installation, and optimization of LMR systems (Analog, P25, DMR)

  3. Knowledge of NFPA 1221

  4. Experience in tower construction, maintenance, and operation

  5. Working understanding of RF propagation

  6. Working knowledge of RF test equipment (e.g. Spectrum Analyzer, JDSU, Anritsu, Solutellia, etc.)

  7. Experience interpreting technical and architectural drawings

  8. Experience interpreting RF design

  9. Proficient in basic electronic and RF theory, and antenna types and uses

  10. Proficient in installation, termination, and testing of fiber systems and low voltage cabling systems

  11. Demonstrated experience to do hands-on research and obtain necessary technical content from subject matter experts while translating it into clear, concise documentation

  12. Proven teamwork skills and flexibility, attention to detail, and experience managing multiple projects and assignments

  13. Progressive RF engineering experience, which directly involves testing, commissioning and optimizing DAS networks

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 10+ years total work experience with communications systems or networks

  2. iBwave Level 2 certification or equivalent RF Planning software

  3. DAS OEM certification (e.g. SOLiD, CommScope, ADRF, Zinwave, etc.)

  4. DAS Test Equipment certification (e.g. Solutelia, JDSU, PIM, Anritsu etc.)

  5. LMR System Certification (Motorola, Harris, etc.)

  6. Cable Vendor certifications (e.g. Andrew, RFS Cablewave, CommScope, Trilogy etc.)

  7. Experience with retrofit projects in data centers or other mission critical buildings

  8. Formal project management training and experience
