The Managed Care Pharmacy Intern will support the Pharmacy Department in the prior authorization/medical exception review process. The Intern will have the opportunity to work with the pharmacy team to review requests clinically and from a benefit perspective, work with providers to obtain clinical data needed for the review process, and communicate with members and providers on the status and outcomes of requests. The Intern will interact daily with several members of the Pharmacy and Medical Affairs team. This Summer Internship offers the opportunity to work full time hours.
High school diploma or GED required.
Candidate must be in pursuit of a degree in pharmacy or related health field.
Experience in health care preferred.
Strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Detail oriented, organized and able to balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
Candidate must be a self-starter, deadline-focused and work with moderate supervision.
