Job Requirements:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor, and able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. Valid NYS Drivers license required.
OPERATING NEEDS:
FIRE SAFETY: Ability to perform unskilled labor tasks and assist Maintenance Assistants in testing the University at Albany's Eyewash, Shower and Drench Hose Stations, Fire Hydrants, and Fire Alarm Systems. Ability to perform unskilled labor work and assist in inspecting and testing the University at Albany's Emergency Lighting & Exit Sign Systems. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., capable of working at heights, both platform and ladders, up to 20 ft, ability to walk and climb stairs, ability to navigate MS Office Suite and Apple products. Valid NYS Driver's License. Ability to work alone as well as in a team environment. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7:00am-3:30pm.
RESIDENCE HALL MAINTENANCE: Ability to perform unskilled labor tasks to assist Maintenance Assistants in dormitory maintenance activities, lift 75 pounds, proper use of hand and power tools; ability to assist in the removal and reinstallation of cove molding, floor tile, and stair treads as directed. Use of step ladders to remove light lenses and cleaning fixtures. Ability to clean tools and equipment, unloading of supplies, and cleaning the work area. Valid NYS driver's License Required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm.
ROOF SHOP: Must be able to work outdoors and perform basic roofing laborer duties including pressure washing, shoveling, caulking. Employees must be able to carry 50 lbs. Valid NYS driver's license required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 5am-1:30pm.
HVAC: Ability to perform unskilled physical labor task. Ability to lift 80 pounds, work outside, work in tightly confined spaces. Ability to follow all safety precautions and wear personal protective equipment. Ability to perform cleaning duties of mechanical & heating equipment as well as work and clean in machine rooms. Ability to carry, climb and work on an 8 ft step ladder. Possess an understanding of basic electrical and mechanical equipment such as heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems; Valid NYS driver's License Required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 7am-3:30pm.
PAINT SHOP: Ability to perform unskilled labor tasks to assist Painters in such activities as preparing and cleaning surfaces prior to painting, applying paint while learning the trade, cleaning painting tools and equipment, unloading paint supplies, and cleaning work area; Ability to work at heights on ladders, scaffolding, and lifts; May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts to accommodate workload; Ability to enter and retrieve work orders from a computerized maintenance management system; Valid NYS Driver's License required. Shift / Hours: Monday thru Friday 6am-2:30pm.
