The opportunity

The Process Improvement team advises clients on their most pressing business challenges and opportunities. This role will be aligned to the Vendor Management focus area with particular emphasis on improvements for our clients in the areas of: vendor management and procurement operating model design, process improvements across the entire vendor management lifecycle stages, category management, vendor sourcing strategies, contract lifecycle management, relationship and performance management, benefits realization, compliance and controls, data, change management, spend analytics, governance, inventory, and reporting. Such efforts by our Process Improvement team helps our clients sustain competitive advantage and profitability by developing strategies to stay ahead of the rapid pace of change and disruption by supporting the execution of complex vendor management transformations.

Your key responsibilities

You will be responsible for taking a leadership role on client engagements, working with high-performing teams to analyze, evaluate and enhance our clients' vendor management business strategies and processes. You will interface with clients at all levels of an organization to help them solve their most challenging questions. You will also support the Process Excellence practice in developing new offerings and thought leadership to take to market, enhancing our capabilities and services. You will also be part of business development efforts developing high-quality proposals with minimal review work required.

You will spend most of your time assisting on all phases of client delivery for an exciting variety of projects. You will possess curiosity and have a keen interest and experience in vendor management and process excellence across the vendor management life cycle. You will also have an interest in innovation, strategy and driving client efficiency. You will be a critical thinker with strong analytical and communication skills and the ability to multi-task. You will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic together with passion, energy and enthusiasm.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor's degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field, MBA or Master in Supply Chain Management preferred or

  • A minimum of five years' + experience in supporting vendor management and/or procurement in the following capacity:

  • Strategic sourcing and category management

  • Vendor management program governance

  • Vendor performance and relationship management

  • Contract management

  • Prior consulting experience ideal

  • Demonstrated team leadership abilities and proven success leading teams of 5+ individuals

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience working on complex vendor management challenges involving multiple business process/process segments to identify solutions, risks, impacts and opportunities

  • Extensive knowledge of the vendor management lifecycle and process analysis to enhance procedures and accomplish business objectives

  • Experience working with vendor management and business line resources in identifying challenges and developing solutions

  • Experience leading business process improvement in the vendor management lifecycle

  • Understanding of vendor management policies and procedures

  • Experience in developing spend analysis and subsequent savings opportunity hypotheses

  • Experience in reviewing industry appropriate contract clauses for inclusion in savings opportunity analysis

  • Understanding of optimization levers such as demand management, consolidation, price negotiation, etc.

  • Demonstratable ability to analyze and present complex vendor management optimization strategies and performance metrics.

  • Quantitative analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Critical thinking capabilities
