New York State Energy Research and Development Aut IT Project Management Intern - SharePoint Operations in Albany, New York

The Climate Act ( has created the most aggressive climate change goals in the nation and requires an ambitious agenda that blends proven catalysts with innovative approaches while operating across a broader energy arena that is rapidly evolving. New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) is a driving force in realizing this agenda. NYSERDA works with stakeholders that span residents, business owners, developers, community leaders, local government officials, universities, utilities, investors, entrepreneurs, and more, to develop, invest, and foster conditions that:

  • Attract the private sector capital investment needed to expand New York’s clean energy economy.

  • Overcome barriers to using clean energy at a large-scale in New York.

  • Enable New York’s communities and residents to benefit equitably from energy efficiency and renewable energy.


This is a paid internship for current students at an accredited college. The pay rate is from $15 to $18 per hour based on current class year. This internship will begin in the Spring 2024 semester and continue through Summer 2024.

Interns must be located in New York State while working. It is expected that interns will follow our telework policy, with a combination of in-office and remote work. Interns work up to 18.5 hours per week during the semester, and up to 37.5 hours per week between semesters, when not attending classes.


  • Manage task assignments and team workload for day-to-day SharePoint operations.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions in response to SharePoint Operations service desk tickets.

  • Develop schedules and milestones for small-scale SharePoint projects.

  • Partner with other IT teams to ensure that SharePoint solutions are compliant with cybersecurity requirements.

  • Meet with internal customers to clarify requirements, gather feedback, and understand client needs.

  • Act as a deputy Scrum Master for the SharePoint group.

  • Participate in Agile meetings including backlog grooming, sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily standups.

  • Design, implement, review, and deliver SharePoint solutions as part of the SharePoint group.

  • Participate in technical reviews of SharePoint development artifacts.

  • Support the Microsoft Solutions Project Manager to enable the broader Microsoft Solutions team strategy.

  • Create, update, and maintain Knowledge Base articles regarding SharePoint best practices.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.


  • Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree with a major in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Experience with Microsoft O365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with at least one programming language or scripting language.


  • Experience or equivalent coursework with Project Management or IT Project Management.

  • Experience or equivalent coursework with Agile project management methodologies.

  • Experience or equivalent coursework with Cybersecurity.

  • Experience with Atlassian products (i.e. JIRA, Confluence) or comparable project management tools.

  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint Online platform.

  • Experience with Microsoft Project.

  • Experience with customer interactions.
