Our Energy, Sustainability & Infrastructure (ES&I) team provides political, strategic and management consultancy to institutions and companies across the energy value chain that aim to support and finance the energy transition. Responsibilities

Guidehouseā€™s Decarbonization Solutions team works to deliver the next generation of solutions to support our clients in delivering on a decarbonized energy future. We support utilities and stakeholders across the energy sector as they envision and prepare for this future by combining our market knowledge, objective modelling capabilities, and deep technical skills with strategic perspectives on decarbonization planning.

As a member of the Decarbonization Solutions team you will help to identify and build new, transformational offerings for our clients. You will primarily work with energy providers to help them identify long term pathways and related actions to decarbonize their operations. Assignments may include defining decarbonization targets and strategies, measuring long-term decarbonization impacts, and developing and implementing decarbonization programs to drive real-world impact. In this role you will learn, be challenged, and develop skills at a fast pace. In addition to hands-on experience, formal training programs will teach you the diverse skills you need to succeed. You will contribute to complex projects and will learn about project management by managing smaller projects

Position Overview:

  • This position involves working directly with clients to identify decarbonization strategies and develop strategic plans, business cases, and cost/benefit and other analyses to support decarbonization strategy development.

  • This is a highly challenging position that draws heavily upon analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills essential to effective regulatory and general strategy consulting.

  • The role requires frequent communications with clients and coworkers while effectively sharing information.

    Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing, maintaining, and interpreting analytical models to forecast energy, emissions, and cost impacts of decarbonization policies at a macroeconomic and microeconomic scale.

  • Working with clients through workshops, 1-on-1 conversations, and interviews to gather data to inform analytical approaches.

  • Staying abreast of technology developments, demonstration projects, and pilot studies of emerging energy and decarbonization technologies.

  • Working directly with our Central Analytics team to develop the inputs for and QC the analysis from our low carbon pathways analysis tool.

  • Preparing and presenting analysis, reports, and other documents for internal and/or external client use.

  • Providing subject matter expertise for sales and delivery efforts.

  • Directing junior team members to support the development of analytics to meet client needs.

    Additional Responsibilities for this Position may Include:

  • Strategic corporate and regulatory planning activities, including stakeholder engagement.

  • Uncertainty and risk analysis.

  • Contribution of subject matter expertise to utility rate cases, IRPs, or other regulatory processes.

  • Managing multiple projects within tight schedules and budget

Qualifications

  • Minimum years of experience: 5 years

  • Minimum years of supervisory experience: 2 years

  • Minimum degree required: Bachelors

  • Knowledge of decarbonization pathways for the energy sector, across both electric and gas systems.

  • Strong conceptual, as well as quantitative and qualitative analytics skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Advanced Excel capabilities, comfortable working with large datasets and quantitative models.

  • Familiarity with collaborative software platforms and tools that facilitate team collaboration through cloud computing.

    Desired:

  • Energy industry experience, particularly with a utility or other energy provider.

  • Familiarity with programming tools and languages such as VBA, Python or R

Additional Requirements

  • The successful candidate must not be subject to employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that would prevent the candidate from performing the job responsibilities as described.

  • This role will be subject to a salary range of $108,000 to $127,000.
