Summary Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. This Physician Assistant (PA) position is located in the Department of Surgery, Urology Service, Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Albany, New York and supports the Network 2 Mission to care for our Veterans with compassion and excellence. This position is responsible for providing a broad range of urologic interventions to all Veterans. Duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Albany, New York. The incumbent follows established guidelines, ethics, and policies and protocols of the Department of Surgery, Department of VHA, and the profession. The urology physician assistant functions as a cooperative and collegial team member with the entire staff. Duties include, but are not limited to: The urology PA will be primarily based in the urology clinic and will be expected to work with other staff members in the urology division to be part of a team that provides a consistent interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to patient care, education and communication Duties will include: Providing comprehensive urology specialty care in the ambulatory setting including outpatient consultations and follow up clinic visits in general urology and all subspecialties of urology Ongoing telephone, video and secure messaging with veterans Assistance to nurses in the clinic when needed with foley changes, suprapubic tube changes, BCG administration, etc. Facilitate triaging messages, walk-ins and new consults Complex foley placement in the clinic, inpatient floors and/or emergency department as needed Completion of inpatient consultation when a resident physician is not available Completion of electronic and telehealth consultation when appropriate Performance of procedures in clinic in accordance with privileges likely to include cystoscopy, prostate biopsy and fulguration of condyloma Participation in Process and Quality Improvement projects as well as research projects will be strongly encouraged Work Schedule: To be discussed during interview Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Qualifications Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant AND Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) AND Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. References: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-8 Physician Assistant Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office. Physical Requirements: Candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment physical. Position requires walking, standing, reading typewritten material without strain, ability to hear conversational voice, emotional and mental stability, and working closely with others. Incumbent may be exposed to blood and body fluids. Must be able to physically respond when needed by prompt appearance at required location. Physical activity includes sitting, standing (up to 4 hours), walking (up to 2 hours), bending and reaching.
