Proofpoint Public Sector Director in Albany, New York

The Role

As part of the company’s strategic investment in core industry segments, Proofpoint is looking for a seasoned leader to help drive the vision, strategy and Go-to-Market (GTM) initiatives for the public sector market, primarily Fed and SLED. You will help articulate Proofpoint’s value proposition and industry market strategy to customers, partners and prospects in one of our most critical markets. The successful candidate has executive level contacts and a strong understanding of doing business with the Federal Government, their ecosystem and cybersecurity requirements. You must be extremely results driven, customer focused, technologically savvy, and innovative at building internal relationships and external partnerships to attack the market with passion!

The industry mission is to deliver a demonstrably enhanced experience for every customer and prospect in the Federal government, so this multifaceted role will require the successful candidate to drive specific engagements and project execution with multiple functional groups within Proofpoint (sales, marketing, product management, product marketing, threat research, etc.). This role will also advocate for these customers internally, so understanding the industry issues, concerns, and use cases will be essential.

Your day-today

  • Develop Go-to-Market strategies, roadmap and design of programs to accelerate growth in the public sector segment

  • Develop compelling industry-specific messaging, content, case studies etc.

  • Develop and lead customer advisory board, customer roundtables, roadshows

  • Help drive thought leadership through effective participation in industry forums, webinars, blogs etc.

  • Establish access and maintain active relationships with key public sector decision makers via the company’s investment in the prevalent industry associations, trade events and online engagements.

  • Create and drive industry marketing motion and objectives to improve reach, efficiency and assure execution

  • Collaborate with operative peers across functions (including the field sales, channel, marketing, sales operations, sales engineering, services, customer support, and product management) to drive FED and SLED industry growth.

  • Maintains ongoing communication with management to report status and facilitate sound business decisions

What you bring to the team

  • Previous experience leading and driving GTM initiatives in a cybersecurity company

  • Excellent knowledge of the public sector, cybersecurity requirements and various business models

  • Product marketing background and experience in creating compelling messages and technical concepts to drive in-bound demand generation including blog posts, social media content, banner ads, email marketing campaigns

  • Experience in public speaking at industry events and workshops

  • Ability to creatively contribute to and coach field sales on how to execute go-to-market plans for public sector industry customers and prospects.

  • Demonstrable experience in working across functional teams to drive the Federal strategy

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to travel for strategic engagements – industry events, advisory boards, business review meetings, etc.
