Milliman Quality Assurance Analyst (Chicago-Milwaukee Casualty) in Albany, New York
Milliman Datalytics-Defense is looking for an enthusiastic, qualified software testing professional with both automated and manual testing experience to join the Datalytics practice. In this role, the Analyst will be part of Quality Assurance team responsible for developing, maintaining, and delivering automated and manual test solutions. This role will work closely with developers and other testers in a highly collaborative environment to analyze and verify system functionality with respect to requirements and to contribute to continual improvement in our software development lifecycle.
Who We Are
Milliman Datalytics-Defense is an e-billing solution that was designed and built by seasoned actuaries exclusively for the analytical needs of insurance companies. It provides a platform for submission of defense attorney invoices and facilitates the review and payment of those invoices. Datalytics provides a dynamic workflow that allows for the escalation of certain processes, as well as an auditing feature with completely configurable business rules. Detailed data is collected, organized, and presented to our clients in order to assist in the management of their defense firms by providing peer-to-peer comparisons.
About This Role
We rely upon our Quality Assurance Analysts to ensure that our software application works as expected. An individual in this role will be dedicated to catching "little things that make a big difference" and will have a passion for a quality-oriented product. This person will be responsible for creating end-to-end test plans and executing all activities in the plan to ensure that objectives are met. The software will be tested for functionality, performance, reliability, stability, and compatibility with legacy and/or external systems.
Work with the development team to identify testing needs and opportunities
Work with the QA team in developing a QA testing strategy for the product, determining the appropriate balance of manual and automated tests, as well as the types of tests (UI, functional, performance, load, and so on)
Participate in testing efforts for releases and ongoing application maintenance
Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
Perform manual testing as needed
Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing features to meet product needs
Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel
Manage the status of defects/changes and provide updates to the team daily
Adapt to the needs of the group to coordinate testing efforts
Follow instructions and accomplish tasks as directed by Product or Development Lead
Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members
Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes; Promptly bring serious defects to the attention of the Development Lead/Product Manager.
Proficient in creating and running application tests, as well as analyzing test results for data completeness, consistency and functionality
Two years of applicable work experience
Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST), Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA) or similar certification preferred
High school degree is required
Bachelor's degree preferred (Area of Study: Application Development, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related degree is preferred)
Competencies and Behaviors that Support Success in this Role
Experience with Azure DevOps (boards, repos, pipelines, test cases, etc.)
Experience in software, financial services, actuarial science and/or insurance underwriting industry
Experience creating, running, and maintaining functional manual test cases
Able to create and run test cases that cover a wide variety of scenarios such as functional, regression, integration, load and performance
Ability to test and prioritize multiple projects concurrently
Familiarity with different tools and technology such as Selenium, Appium, MySQL, C\#, NUnit, REST API and DevOps
Sound understanding of the software test cycle process
Ability to learn the business logic quickly to interpret requirements and prioritize defects
Aptitude to troubleshoot using common sense approaches and to determine root causes using process of elimination
Strong attention to detail, with an ability to multitask and meet hard deadlines
Adept to work in both a team environment and independently
Capacity to learn with minimal supervision in the fast-paced environment
Extensive experience communicating effectively with teammates
Passionate, adaptable, and the desire to continually learn new skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
