Research Networks Analyst Internship

About our Team

Every day, scholars around the world conduct research and publish their results in many different fields. Their work often leads to inventions and new companies, to clinical trials that improve health, and to government policies and regulations. Elsevier’s Global Strategic Networks (GSN) unit helps monitor the heartbeat of the global research enterprise by tracking what is published - much of it by Elsevier through its extensive scholarly journals - and prior research that is linked to it. We use state-of-the-art data analytics to present this bibliometric data in engaging ways that inform governments, foundations, colleges and universities, and researchers about their economic and societal impact and how to invest their resources in support of future research.

About the Role

As a Research Networks Analyst Intern, you will work with members of the GSN team to analyze bibliometric data and prepare custom infographics that highlight the societal impact of research and the collaborations that often underpin it. To illustrate, an earlier project connected published research and patents to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Within the broad field of the societal benefits of research, the exact topic to be addressed and scope of the work will be co-created with the successful applicant.

Responsibilities

• Assist with research analyses.

• Prepare infographics.

• Support Elsevier staff members in their interactions with research organizations.

  Requirements

• Be a self-starter who is comfortable working alone as well as with a team; and be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.

• Recent college graduate or undergraduate level status with training in a relevant field such as data analytics, quantitative social science, library/information science, or STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) by the summer of 2023 in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree; a strong mathematics background is desirable .

• Experience with data visualization, research analytics, and data analytics experience are desirable as is general research experience.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and ability to learn new systems and software quickly; experience with Tableau, SQL, and/or STS is desirable.

The salary range provided in this posting is the base salary range for NYC.Base Salary Range: 17,700.00USD - 29,600.00USD
