Job Description

Community Maternity Services is seeking a part-time, benefits eligible Respite Specialist to work 25 hours per week in our Respite Program. This program provides Respite services to families and children with mental health and/or behavioral special needs. Services are provided throughout Albany County, both in-home and in the community.

During the school year, Respite services are provided on a scheduled basis during after-school/evening hours and on weekends. During the summer and on school breaks services may be provided during day-time hours.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED. An Associates Degree in Human Services/Early Childhood or a related field is preferred;

  • Experience working with children with mental health or behavioral challenges;

  • A valid NYS driver’s license;

  • A car in good working order;

  • Ability to be trained and subsequently implement Therapeutic Crisis Intervention strategies; and

  • Ability to walk up and down stairs as necessary; lift up to 40 pounds; demonstrate a full range of motion; and to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
