Job Description Position Overview The Special Education Coordinator plays a central role in overseeing programs that provide educational assistance to children with mental, psychological, learning, behavioral, or physical disabilities. Grade(s): Elementry School Duties/Responsibilities Curriculum Development and Instruction Review intake assessments to ensure that all students receive the educational services and instructional methods that they need to succeed aligned with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Monitor compliance of IEPs, 504s, Evaluations, and ELL programs and ensure service delivery is delivered with fidelity. Collaborate on determining the programming and supports for students with IEPs and support the professional development to ensure implementation of programming with fidelity Manage related service and evaluation provision ensuring compliant and responsive timelines, programming, and reporting Facilitate IEP meetings as the LEA Representative using a strength based and family centered approach Coordinate with the special education team to collect and report progress monitoring data Manage and coach a cohort of Special Education teachers and related service providers Commitment to School and Classroom Culture Work collaboratively with your school team and those across KIPP Capital Region Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers and families Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff Develop positive rapport with students Create and foster a positive and calm learning environment Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school's values, student management policies and culture Family Engagement Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress Be available for open houses, parent teacher conferences and other events involving parents Make him/herself available to students, parents and other staff members Growth Mindset Pursue challenging professional goals each year Willing to offer support and receive constructive feedback from colleagues in order to create a professional working atmosphere that is conducive to change and improvement Participate in school-wide and individual professional development, including pre-service training over the summer and weekly during the academic year (held during school hours) Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College or University required Special Education Teacher Certification, required. Prior experience working in schools and urban communities; relentless commitment to the mission of educating urban students. 3+ years of full-time special education teaching and case management experience in an urban setting, with a track record of success. 1+ years of experience as a Special Education Coordinator, Instructional Coach, or like position. Experience working directly with students, preferably required in the charter, private, or public school environment. Additional Information The starting base salary range for this exempt position is $57,000 - $63,000.
