Underwriting Internship - New York, NY (summer 2022)


Zurich is currently looking for an Underwriting intern to support our National Accounts teams working out of our New York City, NY, office.

This intern will work under immediate supervision. Performs requested tasks alongside professionals who perform these roles. Generally this position is part of a summer program with an assigned mentor.

Zurich does not offer school credit for Internships.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Underwriting basics – Mentor will teach what an underwriter does by topic.

  • Basic business unit financial reporting, e.g. Daily Sales Report and Bound not Booked

  • Pipeline management – Run report for targets by broker through the end of the year

  • Preparation and participation in Presentations and Stewardship meetings

  • Loss Summary review and inputs

  • Attend a broker meeting with Mentor

  • Financial reports for upcoming meetings through UW Desktop and Power BI

You will learn:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program as a rising junior or rising senior and will be enrolled in the upcoming Fall Semester

  • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and no prior experience required in the administrative area

  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. Indefinitely

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum cumulative GPA average of 3.0 (current GPA reported by your school)

  • Demonstrates problem solving skills in a customer focused environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Analytical skills

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Excel and PowerPoint experience

  • Self-motivated, punctual, professional and able to work independently
