Alfred University Assistant Professor of Spanish in Alfred, New York

FT: Assistant Professor of Spanish, Alfred.

The Division of Modern Languages in the College of Liberals Arts and Sciences at Alfred University invites applications for a tenure-track professorship at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor to begin Fall 2024. The salary for this position will be $55,000-$59,000 depending on experience.

We seek a collaborative faculty member to join our Spanish program and make interdisciplinary connections. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. (or ABD) in either Latin American Literature, with a background in Afro-Latin American or Afro-Caribbean Literature and Cultures, or in Spanish Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or Heritage Language Pedagogy with a demonstrated interest in mentoring language teachers, and have native or near native fluency in Spanish. Candidates must have the ability to teach courses in Latin American, Hemispheric American, Afro-Caribbean literature or Second Language Acquisition. In order to contribute to Alfred University's mission, the successful candidate will teach three courses each semester. Courses include lower-division Spanish courses, lower-division General Education Literature courses, and upper-level Spanish courses for the major/minor. Additional teaching opportunities include Alfred University's Allen Term, Applied & Experiential Learning (APEX), and Summer Programs.
