Alfred University Part-Time Secretary to Athletics in Alfred, New York

The Department of Athletics seeks a part-time (22 ½ hours per week) secretary to work with and support and twenty plus member administrative, coaching and training staff. The successful candidate will be proficient in all Microsoft applications (particularly Excel) and should have strong computer skills as they will work extensively with the University's software system. Interacts with a variety of people including student-athletes, coaches, faculty, alumni and staff. Must possess people skills and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

  • Answers phones and directs flow of information in the office

  • Ensures Alfred University's compliance with NCAA eligibility and rules

  • Works closely with University Advancement to maintain member lists for Saxon Nation and managing football game VIP seating

  • Arranging team travel for all teams except football

  • Processing transfer requests for athletes

  • Maintaining permanent team files

  • Compiling team rosters and schedules and preparing for distribution

  • Compiling end of season proficiency reports

  • Completion of annual demographic report for NCAA

  • Ordering supplies for entire department

  • Working closely with University Registrar to obtain information such as graduation rates and academic performance by each team each semester

  • Other duties as assigned

    Requirements:

  • Formal Education: High School diploma required, bachelor's degree or higher preferred.

  • Experience: 1-3 years of working in an office setting.

  • Essential Functions: The individual must be able to work independently. Proficiency in keyboarding. The ability to maintain regular and prompt attendance is essential to the successful performance of this position.
