HANAC, Inc. Program Coordinator in Astoria, New York

HANAC, Inc. – originally founded by George Douris as the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee – is a New York City-based multi-faceted social services organization. The organization was founded in 1972 to serve the needs of vulnerable populations throughout New York City.  

The Program Coordinator will assist with the planning and coordination of programs and their activities. Monitor implementation of program policies and practices. Work to keep programs on schedule, within stated budgets, and functioning smoothly. Support program growth and development as necessary.

WORK SCHEDULE: MONDAY-FRIDAY, 9 AM-2:00 PM (25 HOURS/WEEK)

RATE OF PAY: $15 PER HOUR

  • Develop programs and coordinate activities

  • Create a monthly calendar  with a menu, activities, special events, and shopping trips

  • Coordinate daily lunch delivery and serve lunch to members (50-60 participants

  • Count and submit daily lunch donations to JVL

  • Submit original lunch sheets on a monthly basis to JVL, daily food used, monthly inventory, monthly order

  • Supervise  kitchen aid, volunteers

  • Create and maintain partnerships

  • Coordinate events, seminars, parties, breakfasts, and outings

  • Costco Shopping for breakfasts and parties AND Bingo prize shopping to Dollar Tree or Supermarket

  • Use peer place database to enter all lunch units

  • Manage a food pantry monthly distribution of 126 registrants

  • Process all invoices for the center and process payroll

  • Order Supplies for the office

  • Decorate the lunch room for different seasons

  • Attend monthly director meetings

  • Host monthly board meetings on site

  • Conduct surveys (food/activities)

  • Update NSI every year on peer place and file into client’s folder, update any new information on peer place for example change of phone number and or medication

  • Coordinate transportation for upcoming trips with clients' information ( name, address) and call clients to confirm shopping trips

    Requirements:

  • High school Diploma

  • BILINGUAL IN SPANISH OR GREEK IS HIGHLY PREFERRED 

  • Must obtain a Food handler certificate within the first 6 months of hire.

  • Must be fully vaccinated and able to show proof of such vaccination by providing your original vaccine card or a copy of your vaccine card.
