Culpeper Wood Preservers Lumber Handler/Laborer in Athens, New York
THIS IS AN OUTDOOR POSITION, YEAR-ROUND Responsibilities: New employees start in one of the following positions based on experience and current vacancies. Opportunities for further training and advancement into different roles in the operations are available after proven performance, attendance and the right attitude! Tagging: Tag units correctly and precisely Cut off extra bands and sticks that arent necessary Assist in the banding of sticks with the forklift operators behind the plant Maintain a clean and well-kept area Production Laborer: Banding Units together Insert/remove sticks between lumber before and after the drying lumber process
Additional Responsibilities: May perform a variety of general manual labor tasks to assist in the everyday operation of the manufacturing facility when needed and when directed to by the Plant Operations Manager.
Work Environment This position requires working in a busy lumberyard and near moving mechanical parts. This position requires working outdoors and being exposed to wet, humid, extremely hot or extremely cold conditions. Safety is our number one goal, employees are required to wear Steel toe boots, safety vest and eye wear (in certain locations).
Tools & Technology Requirements: Included but not limited to ladders, power tools, pressure washers QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS Labor experience is an asset but not required; Reliable, steady work history, includes a good attendance record; Must have the ability to follow standard safety procedures; Ability to work alone or in a team environment; Positive attitude, ready to learn and a safety mindset; Basic math skills and effectively read, write and communicate in English; Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions Must be able to meet physical demands of the job such as: stand/walk/kneel/crouch for prolonged periods of time; Must be able to pass pre-employment and drug test. Hours: Overtime and weekends may be mandatory as well as unexpected shift changes. Attendance is extremely important.
Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week, Overtime available during busy season
