Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Facilities Technician oversees, executes, and is responsible for the care and maintenance of the facilities of the Inns of Aurora properties.

The Hours for this position are 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with weekend availability required.
Evaluate and execute work activities assigned though proper techniques and in the use of tools, equipment and chemical applications
Perform repairs, service, preventative maintenance, and installation of all aspects of HVAC, kitchen equipment including refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and overall facility equipment with a focus on quality, accuracy and timeliness
Perform seasonal system services including winterizing of exterior equipment, knowledge of snow melt loops, and glycol system maintenance
Verify that equipment is in safe and proper operating condition
Research and locate parts and materials necessary for repairs and inventory
Assist outside vendors when necessary to ensure timely, cost effective service and repairs
Assist all members within facilities and grounds department in areas of carpentry, painting, building repairs, moving and landscape/lawn maintenance
Assist in snow removal operations, snow melt and other applications
Perform other duties, as assigned
Maintain regular attendance
Working knowledge of methods, materials, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment used in various facilities maintenance activities including system diagnostics, maintenance and repair
HVAC systems including Fuel Oil and Propane Boilers, Geothermal, Heat Pumps, Fan Coil Units, SpacePak’s, Duct Work, Chillers and Cooling towers
Kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, dish machines, refrigeration, and ventilation
Electrical (all phase) including wiring and motors
General plumbing including copper, iron, pvc, and cpv
Health and safety regulations related to power equipment and refrigeration
Operation of hand tools, power tools and other assigned equipment
Ability to work independently or in a team setting with internal staff as well as outside vendors
Ability to perform facilities maintenance and repair work
Working knowledge of safe work practices, methods and procedures
Ability to operate and demonstrate the use of equipment and power hand tools
Ability to communicate effectively with others
A friendly and professional work ethic and demeanor
Previous customer service experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and general computer literacy
Flexibility in scheduling, including night and weekend availability
- Five years of maintenance experience
Graduation from standard high school or G.E.D. equivalent with trade and vocational school courses completed
Certification in trade (carpenter, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, related) preferred
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Proven record of observing legal and defensive driving practices, as verified by the NYS Lens Program
