TITLE: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST

Qualifications: New York State Certification as a School Psychologist or other appropriate certification.

Supervisor: Director of Instructional Services

    Responsibilities:

1.) Prepares and administers psychological/psychoeducational evaluations for required students including but not limited to new student evaluations, reevaluations, behavior assessments, and others as required and maintains records pertaining to such evaluations.

2.) Prepares for and conducts short term and ongoing counseling.

3.) Participates as a member of the Committee on Special Education

  • Attends all meetings as required

  • Attends all annual reviews as required

  • Writes counseling goals and objectives and assists staff in writing IEP's including but not limited to input on evaluations, reports, and psychological standardized test results.

  • Serves as Alternate CSE/CPSE Chairperson upon Board of Education approval

4.) Participates in monthly counselor/support staff meetings.

5.) Participates in Crisis Intervention by assisting grade level counselor

6.) Consults with Parents

  • Acts as a resource for information

  • Provides referrals to outside agencies

  • Is available for phone calls

7.) Consults with teachers as a resource for information.

8.) Conducts group counseling in coordination with school counselor.

9.) Develops and implements new programs and provide professional learning and resources to staff to assist in addressing current issues/problems.

10.) Reports child abuse and follows up.

11.) Continues professional development.

12.) Is a member of school based committees including but not limited to RtI, MTSS, Mental Health, 504, and more.

13.) Assists in the administration and interpretation of Standardized Testing and various student screenings, including but not limited to PreK and transfer/out of state students.

14.) Performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent or designee.
