ABOUT THE LIBERTY PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM:

The Liberty Partnership program seeks to remove the barriers which prevents many young adults from graduating from high school and encourages these students to pursue higher education or post-secondary vocational training by promoting collaboration between colleges and universities, community based organizations, school districts, parents, volunteers, businesses and industry in providing comprehensive services for "at risk" students to enter the workforce prepared with the necessary skills to be successful.

Genesee Community College is the lead agency which provides administrative and financial management. GCC campus resources and professional advisement are valuable to the program. The program office is located at the Batavia Campus Center. Liberty Partnership serves students in Albion, Medina, Batavia, Brockport School Districts and Byron-Bergen. GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The Assistant Director of Liberty Partnerships is responsible for assisting the Director of Liberty Partnerships in coordinating services at a variety of on-campus and off-campus locations. The position will be responsible for many program functions and will work directly with partnering school districts, Liberty Partnerships staff, GCC staff, NYSED program collaborators, and members of the community. Occasional evening and weekend assignments are anticipated.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with middle and high school student who are academically disadvantaged and in danger of dropping out of school.

Help students develop the skills needed to become successful college and career ready by assisting them in the development of appropriate educational goals, guiding them in decision-making, learning how to accept responsibility for their decisions, directing them to resources that provide assistance in making college and career choices, and providing opportunities to develop social skills, cultural competence, study skills, and writing skills.

Oversee the implementation of evidence-based curriculum.

Organize and initiate all utilized social media notifications.

Create and maintain an LPP Alumni Organization.

Assist the Director in the creation of a newsletter for Liberty Partnerships students and families.

Assist the Director with planning and overseeing the annual summer program, including senior summer melt for Liberty Partnerships participants.

Assist the Director with LPP state reporting.

Assist with recruiting Liberty Partnerships participants. Make presentations to students in partner schools. Work with school personnel for referrals, and initiate parent/family engagement and consent. Recruit applicants based on eligibility criteria and develop Personalized Learning Plans and provide Social Emotional Assessment for all new participants.

Ensure the continuation and success of parent/family engagement activities through training, outreach, home visits and programming for family members.

Assist with supervision of staff and interns.

Assist with the creation and implementation of an annual budget for Liberty Partnerships; seeks data/information regarding the budget, provides input and basic data computation.

Support the Director with routine operational details affecting the department by assuming responsibility for office management functions and making administrative decisions on behalf of the Director when appropriate and within established guidelines and policy.

Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.

Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses required by the supervisor.

Contribute to the overall success of the project by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Associates Degree will be considered if applicant has three years of relative working experience. Background in working with adolescents and their families. Experience in developing and providing academic support, social emotional assessment, program budget development and/or enrichment activities. A commitment to the campus values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Is mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.

Preferred:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Education, or a related field preferred. Ability to work independently with academically disadvantaged students in danger of dropping out of school. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and management skills. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, with students, parents, school personnel, co-workers, college administrators, and other constituents of the College. The ability to speak comfortably before groups. A working knowledge of computers and computer applications. Experience with database applications.

RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports to the Liberty Partnerships Director.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

This is a long standing, grant-funded, year-round position (including summers) at 35 hours per week and is compensated at a rate of $45,739.04 annually. The Liberty Partnerships Grant program is currently in year 2 of a 5 year cycle with anticipated renewal.

A valid NYS driver's license and readily available access to reliable transportation is required. The scope of the position requires working an occasional evening and weekends including some travel.
