Job Description:

The School of Management at Binghamton University, State University of New York invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Accounting starting mid-August 2023, subject to budgetary approval.

Professional Responsibilities: The teaching component (2 + 2) requires delivering required/elective courses in Accounting at the undergraduate and/or master's levels. Faculty are expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment, engage in other service duties for the school and the college, both internally and externally, and contribute to the intellectual environment of the area. To support faculty research, the school provides summer funding for the first three years of service, contingent on research productivity and classroom success and subscriptions to WRDS and other standard databases.

TheSchool of Management(SOM) at Binghamton Universityandthe Accounting Program have received separate AACSB accreditations. The accounting faculty have a consistent record of scholarly achievement with faculty publications appearing inThe Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Behavioral Research in AccountingandJournal of Management Accounting Research.

Located in the scenic Finger Lakes region of New York State, Binghamton is three hours from New York City and Philadelphia and one hour from Ithaca and Syracuse. The area features excellent schools and recreational opportunities with a low cost of living.

Requirements:

Candidates must have an earned PhD degree by July 1, 2023, and demonstrate the ability to conduct high quality research as evidenced by publication in top-tier accounting journals as well as high quality teaching in the classroom. All areas of teaching expertise are encouraged to apply. However, preference will be given to candidates with the ability and willingness to teach auditing as evidenced by multiyear experience as an auditor and/or experience in teaching auditing.
