Job Description:

The Upward Bound Math-Science (UBMS) program at Binghamton University is one of eight TRIO programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The program's goal is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees

in math and science and, ultimately, careers in the math and science profession.

Responsibilities:

Part-time Summer Faculty will instruct core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, History, Foreign Language/Culture, Composition, and Literature or an enrichment course such as Music, Art, Photography, Drama, Computers, or Communication. The residential Summer Program is from July 1, 2, 7 to August 1, 2024. Teachers will teach daily (Monday to Thursday) for five weeks. Hours will vary based on program needs. This security-sensitive position will require a background check as a pre-employment qualifier.

This program may be conducted virtually this summer. Applicants should be comfortable teaching on platforms like Google Classroom, Google Meets, and others. Technology assistance will also be provided as needed. Experience teaching virtually is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • One or more years of teaching experience or commensurate experience in the field of

expertise.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Teaching Certification is preferred

  • One or more years of experience teaching students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Additional Information:

Salary: $45.00 per hour, six-week position (one-week preparation).
