Budget Title: Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000

Binghamton University is looking for a full time Project Coordinator to join our Construction Management Team within the Facilities Management Department, to manage renovation projects specifically requested by Residential Life (dormitories), Athletics, and other project types as assigned. Facilities Management works closely with Residential Life to renovate areas within the many residential communities; completing both minor and major projects to continuously update these areas. Facilities Management also works closely with Athletics on new field projects and renovations of existing facilities. This position would report to the Assistant Director of Construction Management.

The Project Coordinator would work with University Designers (Architects, Engineers, & Landscape Architects), Contractors, Facilities Management staff, Residential Life staff, Athletics, and other on-campus departments while completing the design and construction of these projects.

The incumbent will act as the primary contact person for all assigned projects from the planning through the execution by focusing on campus needs and impacts, while maintaining approved budgets and timelines. This individual would be tasked with monitoring construction schedules, reviewing design and construction documents, keeping construction documents current during projects, attending job and coordination meetings, observing tests performed on the job site, maintaining office records and files according to an established standard, preparing daily reports, reviewing submittals/shops, reviewing payment applications, assisting with inspection reports, and tracking/coordinating issues during the construction warranty periods. They will be expected to visit jobsites daily to oversee work and have knowledge of job site safety. The successful candidate will be a proactive, organized, self-motivated professional with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; who possess the ability to maintain collaborative relationships and adapt to change while handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Due to the nature of the work, this position may require, on occasion, a non-standard work schedule with the ability to respond to off-hour emergencies should they occur.

As stated above, this position will primarily work on projects associated with Residential Life, Athletics, or Capital. Typically, Residential Life annually renovates an existing dormitory in its entirety. Dorm renovations typically include abatement, demolition, new exterior components such as roofing and windows, new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, telecommunications, site work, new finishes, and coordination with new furniture deliveries. Residential Life also completes a number of minor upgrades during the summer months. These upgrades typically consist of upgrading finishes within dorms and other residential communities which are not slated for immediate renovation in their entirety. As the University continues to expand and add more residential students, the campus is also considering adding a new dormitory in the near future for which the incumbent would also be actively involved in. The Athletics Department currently as a 5 Year Plan for projects. Mainly for outdoor areas such as turf fields, track and court renovations, but will also include interior renovations such as the Events Center track/bleachers and upgrades to locker rooms, pool areas, and courts.
