The Watts Internship Program is your chance to bring what you’ve learned in the classroom to life! You’ll dive into real-world projects, gaining hands-on experience while learning how business really works from the inside. What You’ll Do As a Research Engineering Intern, you will provide technical support to our product research team. This includes conducting research towards launching a new commercial electric water heating product and preparing test plans to validate attributes of a design specification (including cost, performance, size, etc). This may include creating a comprehensive test plan to evaluate performance relative to design specifications and certify the product to applicable safety standards.
Conduct technical evaluation of designs regarding compliance to design specifications, and conduct comparative evaluations, and create associated documentation
Design test programs, including lab testing and field testing to validate performance
Work with engineers in hands-on capacity in lab environment conduct testing and document procedures and results using lab instrumentation and measurement equipment.
Work with engineers to gain experience in cad environment and business software.
Present on your internship learning and experience to the leadership team.
Who You Are
Current student (senior) pursuing your BSME or MSME degree, with an interest in pursuing research and product development with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge
Data analysis skills
Experienced in identifying and analyzing problems, making recommendations and implementing solutions.
Understand electrical schematics and mechanical systems
Familiarity with CAD software, such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD a plus
Passionate about your work, with a genuine desire to contribute meaningfully and make an impact
Demonstrated commitment to integrity and respect in interactions with others, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment
Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of tasks and following through on commitments
Must be authorized to work in the United States and do not require sponsorship now or in the future

Working Conditions
Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job responsibilities outside the typical office setting.
While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. You must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
