JBay, LLC strives to provide extraordinary hospitality for members of its beach clubs in Breezy Point, NY and are looking for variable (seasonal) associates to join our talented teams for the upcoming 2024 Summer Season. The anticipated first day of work will be in May 2024 and the last day is estimated to be in September 2024. Lifeguard LieutenantSummary: The Lifeguard Lieutenant assists the aquatics supervisor in training, scheduling and appraising lifeguards. Ensures that all lifeguards have current lifesaving certifications.ResponsibilitiesPerforms all lifeguard duties, including monitoring pool/beach activities, applying first aid, and performing water rescues as necessaryEnsures that swimmers are well supervised in and out the beach / pool area. Fills in for lifeguards as necessaryOrients new lifeguards to job duties and responsibilities.Schedules, coordinates, and conducts in-service training for all lifeguardsAssists with scheduling of lifeguards to ensure that adequate coverage is maintained at pool/beaches during operating hoursEnsure that lifeguards perform in accordance with established safety regulations and policiesAssist the aquatics supervisor with maintaining the pools chemical balances and the completion of required logsComplete all required paperwork for guest / associate injuries/incidents on the property, including first aid notice only incidents, and submit to management timely.Informs management on weather and surf conditionsFollow all health, safety standards, security guidelines, policies, and initiativesAll other duties as may be assignedRequirementsKnowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures and ability to react calmly in emergency situationsAbility to relate and communicate effectively with youth and adults in a positive mannerSkilled in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniquesVisual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activityPhysical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist guests in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance requiredMust be able to focus on close and distant objectsMust be able to work entire season, from Memorial Day through Labor Day without any vacation, or time away from work.CPR / AED / First Aid Certification; Lifesaving/Lifeguard CertificationMust be 18 years of ageEducation & ExperienceEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent Experience: Two (2) years lifeguard experience / supervisory experience Previous youth camp experience Resort / National Park experience preferredHourly rate $17.00All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
