NOTE: As a NYC contracted agency all positions at Good Shepherd Services fall under the NYC vaccine/testing mandate. All employees, volunteers and interns must show proof of vaccination or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing.

The Activity Instructor provides recreational/educational workshops and activities as an avenue for self-development and expression thru enrichment/project-based curriculum.
Reports To: PROGRAM Director, Beacon 45
Location: 2502 Lorillard Place, Bronx NY 10458
Hours: Up to 18 Hours/Week School Year Sept.to June, and Summer Camp July to August; Non-Exempt
Work with the Program Director to implement the literacy curriculum and other academic enrichments for 15 to 20 middle school participants.
Submit lesson/activity plans in advance.
Help plan and implement a culminating event or project.
Responsible for the setup, operation and clean-up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.
Attends all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified.
Guides program participants in examining choices, following directions and becoming involved in program activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma required. Bachelors preferred with experience and demonstrated expertise in literacy skills.
Bi-lingual Spanish/English, a plus.
Excellent group facilitation skills
Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
Experience working with high school youth, a plus.
Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective
