JOB SUMMARY

The Bronx District Attorney's Office seeks a well-qualified staff whose diverse backgrounds reflect an ability to serve the over 1.4 million members of the Bronx County community and pursue a safer Bronx through fair justice. The Recruitment Bureau coordinates all recruitment of attorneys and professional staff for the Office. Recruitment is also responsible for initiating and implementing pipeline programs, including internships for law school, college, and high school students. Reporting to the Bureau Chief, the Deputy Bureau Chief will assist in overseeing all facets of the Bureau.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee recruitment of attorneys and professional staff from posting through a selection of candidates for hire

  • Supervise, train, and manage recruitment staff, including seven recruitment specialists

  • Serve as liaison to law schools to strengthen coordinated efforts to attract talent and ensure seamless on-campus interview programs.

  • Determine the best use of resources in recruitment efforts at over 100 law schools

  • Attend recruitment conferences, job fairs, and other recruitment events

  • Develop promotional material for recruitment efforts

  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of best practices in legal recruitment

  • Train interviewers in interview protocols and procedures

  • Monitor interviews to ensure a fair and equitable recruitment process

  • Coordinate Summer Intern Program, including event planning, work assignment allocation, coordinating work evaluations, and processing final reviews

  • Serve as counsel and mentor to interns

  • Collaborate with the internal Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Human Resources to ensure accurate data reporting and coordination of efforts

  • Aid in preparation of statistical reports

  • Oversee civil service process hiring, including hiring pools

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor and Admission to the New York State Bar Required

  • New York State Residency and US Citizenship required as of first day of employment

  • 4+ years of legal recruitment or career counseling at a law school preferred

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in the use of Adobe Pro and Microsoft Office, preferred

  • Proven candidate sourcing and relationship-building skills preferred

  • Skills in data management and reporting required

  • Knowledge of citywide systems (NYCAPS, PRISE, PMS, CHRMS), preferred
