NOTE: As a NYC contracted agency all positions at Good Shepherd Services fall under the NYC vaccine/testing mandate. All employees, volunteers and interns must show proof of vaccination or submit to weekly COVID-19 testing.

If working in a NYC DOE partner program, proof of vaccination is mandatory.

Reports to: Program Director, BEACON M.S 45

Location: 2502 Lorillard Place @ M.S 45

Hours: 18 Hours/Week; Non-Exempt (Evenings and Saturdays)

Job Summary: The Assistant Program Director is responsible for assisting the Program Director at Beacon M.S 45 in the development and management of daily contractual requirements regarding summer evening program, daily evening program, and Saturday programming.

Major Duties:

  • Assist Program Director in overseeing the daily operation of Beacon M.S 45 program.

  • Attend all staff meetings and required professional development activities.

  • Responsible for the management and security of Evening and Saturday programming.

  • Assist with the design and implementation of Evening and Saturday programming.

  • Provide overall leadership and administration of program in the absence of Program Director.

  • Track and input student records and attendance in the databases for Evening and Saturday programming as needed.

  • Help to create an environment of accountability, safety, and responsibility amongst participants.

  • Assist the Program Director in the development of all Evening and Saturday program schedules.

  • Coordinate and plan Evening/Saturday program activities and culminating events.

  • Schedule and participate in parent involvement activities.

  • Network and outreach to community organizations to provide services and information to program participants.

  • Facilitate staff meetings for evening staff.

  • Conduct outreach for participants to enroll in Evening/Saturday Program.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

  • At least 2 years of significant equivalent experience working with at-risk/underserved youth.

  • Must have the ability to work Saturdays, Evenings, and Summer.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Strong team player and approachable personality.

  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
