NOTE: As a NYC contracted agency all positions at Good Shepherd Services fall under the NYC vaccine mandate. All employees, volunteers and interns must show proof of vaccination upon hire.

The Assistant Program Director will be responsible to serve as an assist for the overall development, implementation, and supervision of the school year afterschool program and the summer learning program. He or she will be the liaison to school staff and act as on site Director when Director is off site. This is a year-round position and will require availability for weekend and evening training requirements.

Location: 125 East 181st Street, Bronx, New York 10453

Hours: 35 hours/week; Non-Exempt

Major Duties:

  • Overseeing the daily operation program.

  • Attend all staff meetings and required professional development activities.

  • Responsible for the management and security of expansion programming.

  • Assist with the design and implementation of expansion programming.

  • Provide overall leadership and administration of program in the absence of Program Director.

  • File, Track and input student records and attendance in the databases for school year and summer expansion as needed.

  • Help to create an environment of accountability, safety, and responsibility amongst participants.

  • Assist the Program Director in the development of all expansion program schedules.

  • Act as Program Director in Program Director absence.

  • Coordinate and plan program activities and culminating events.

  • Schedule and participate in community involvement activities.

  • Network and outreach to community organizations to provide services and information to program participants.

  • Facilitate staff meetings for expansion staff.

  • Lead Youth Council and Stem Initiative

  • On Floor Supervision

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Associates required; BA preferred.

  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.

  • STEM Academy Experience Preferred.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Minimum 1-2 Years Afterschool Experience (working in program)

  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and/or youth development perspective.
