Employment Type: Full-Time/Part-Time structure. Full-time during the summer and will convert to part-time in the fall for the school year.Location: Bronx, NYAbout Phipps Neighborhoods: At Phipps Neighborhoods, we create safe, inclusive spaces where community members access education, career, and economic opportunities to succeed at school and work, raise healthy families and build thriving communities.Position Summary:Under the guidance of the Education Team, the Content Specialist will develop lesson plans in the specified content area and will facilitate those lessons at designated sites. The Content Specialist will also attend weekly professional development sessions and will work closely with the Education Specialist and site-based leadership.Job Description:Duties and Responsibilities:Develop lesson plans in specified content area and in accordance with program schedule, programmatic themes, objectives, and outcomesFacilitate lessons at designated sites and be the content area expert for the staff at those sitesSupport the design and implementation of instruction that result in academic success for all studentsAssist in implementing academic intervention strategies that address the individualized learning strength of a diverse population of learnersWork with the Education Team and the site-based leadership team to set goals for student achievementsDemonstrate an understanding and practice of the principles of positive youth developmentPerform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Education Qualifications/Experience:HS Diploma or HSE; 3-5 years proven experience in content areaExperience with the design and implementation of group activitiesThe ability to work with young people at multiple grade levels and varying stages of development.Previous experience working in an urban environmentBachelor’s Degree in related field preferredExcellent oral and written communication skills and computer literacyBilingual (Spanish speaking) preferredEnthusiasm, creativity and initiativeA sense of humor and a sense of urgency PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
