New York Botanical Garden Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator in Bronx, New York
NYBG’s Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator supports the work of the Continuing Education team by providing administrative and curriculum development support for the Academic Manager and the Program Manager.
Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) initiatives and actively helps to build and maintain and inclusive organizational culture through the institution.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in course development and improvement initiatives for certificate programs, seasonal classes, and Plant Studio
Assist in managing and creating the scheduling and implementation of classes.
Aid in instructor evaluation and recommends changes that could strengthen pedagogical approaches.
Monitor Plant Studio course assets to ensure they are up to date and relevant.
Supports the Academic Manager in onboarding and training new instructors.
Assist the Academic Manager in creating and delivering instructor Professional developments.
Distributes, collects, files, and ensures all BPSS forms are signed and submitted in a timely manner.
Communicates with instructors to ensure grades, syllabi, and final exams are submitted in a timely manner.
Collaborate with the Registration Office to support in-person and online classes.
Assist with the inventory of classroom materials and supplies.
Generate ad-hoc reports.
Additional related tasks and responsibilities as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Experience with formal or informal education, either in person or online
Ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Experience coordinating and leading programs, workshops, or events.
Strong computer skills, CRM database experience also helpful; experience with Canvas or comparable Learning Management System preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills with teamwork focused approach
Creative approach to support and programming for learners in non-school settings; some experience with outdoor education preferred.
Curriculum development and project management experience preferred.
Experience with online survey tools such as SurveyMonkey preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Detail-oriented
Available weekends and evenings as needed.
Salary: $60,000 – $65,000
