Sprague is looking for a Lead Terminal Operator at our Bronx, NY location, with an expertise in terminal maintenance but capable of a wide range of duties at a bulk oil facility. A variety of skills/specialization may be utilized, some of which may require licensure or certification. Work hours/shifts vary and overtime is frequently available but not guaranteed. Work is primarily performed outdoors in a maritime environment 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. This position will be primarily on a Monday-Friday day shift with on-call responsibilities. Nights, weekends, holidays and overtime may be required as operations dictate.

Primary responsibilities include:

Assist in providing daily direction and assignments primarily for maintaining the facility for up to nine terminal personnel.

Responsible for the supervision and hands on execution of repairs and maintenance of mechanical equipment including, troubleshooting loading rack automation systems, Accuload's (or similar), additive injection equipment, product blending equipment and flow control valves as well as product pumps, motors, and compressors.

Provide terminal personnel with direction and guidance on repairs and maintenance projects as well as the training and mentorship necessary to develop mechanical expertise.

Manage the ongoing maintenance of grounds and buildings.

Operate, maintain, and repair burners and steam generator.

Assist in the supervision and monitoring of contractors on terminal projects.

Recommend facility repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget.

Maintain inventory of parts for equipment throughout the facility.

Provide administrative support for inventory and barge transfer receipts.

Secondary responsibilities include:

Assist with gauging of oil tanks, offloading of cargo and product transfers.

Assist with driver training for oil and asphalt truck loading.

Participate in oil spill response drills and conduct security rounds.

Operate small construction equipment (skid steer, forklift) including snow plowing and removal

Responsibility for shift coverage including weekend and vacation relief as well as on-call duties with company provided cell phone.

Qualified candidates for this role will have the following:

Must have strong and proven mechanical skills in a marine terminal environment including experience with loading rack automation systems, Acculoads (or similar) additive injection equipment, product blending equipment and flow control valves.

Must have past experience in a bulk fuel storage plant.

Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license and safe driving record.

Must possess or have ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC).

Must be able to obtain the P13 Certificate of Fitness issued by the FDNY

High school diploma or equivalent.

Proficient in basic match, including fractions.

Basic computer knowledge a must.

Licenses/certifications as required for some operations.

Must be able to do shift work, which may include nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

Physical activity/strength requirements are demanding and may include:

Standing up to 75% of the day

Lifting up to 75 lbs.

Carrying up 50 lbs.

Climbing

Pushing/Pulling

Ability to endure outside weather conditions

Incumbent must possess the ability to work in a safe manner and maintain a constant state of alertness.
