Police Athletic League Licensed Master Social Worker in Bronx, New York
The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the largest independent youth organization in New York City that provides educational and recreational activities for children and young adults. PAL Inc. and The New York City Police Department work in partnership to provide communities with summer and after-school recreational and educational activities.
We are looking for an LMSW who will be a vital member of the PAL center’s Building Resilience in Youth (BRY) team and is tasked with coordinating program services that focus on enhancing the center’s capacity to improve outcomes for youth ages 13-21, especially at-risk youth affected by COVID-19. The BRY Director works with program staff, the partnering mental health provider, and the community at large in offering evidence-based early intervention support to help get youth impacted by mental health and/or school success challenges back on track toward reaching their full potential.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
Plan and coordinate multi-tiered trainings and workshops that allow for direct service staff to continuously expand on their knowledge, skills, and capacity to promote resilience and mental health awareness among youth participants (including stress management skills, motivational interviewing, behavior activation, problem-solving, mindfulness, and/or resiliency youth groups)
Provide brief screening, comprehensive mental health assessments, and individual wellness coaching sessions to youth participants
Provide case management services to youth participants, when applicable
Complete referrals, when necessary
Work collaboratively with BRY staff and the partnering mental health provider to engage, educate, and communicate with identified participants regarding their care
Develop and maintain positive relationship with partnering mental health provider
Work with appropriate staff to ensure thorough documentation and accurate, timely data entry into internal database and case management systems
Prepare program activity reports for various purposes such as evaluation, fund development, and marketing
Conduct outreach to the community to build awareness around youth mental health
Develop and maintain a list of appropriate community resources
Attend all mandatory program trainings and meetings
Attend and participate in PAL staff meetings and functions as required

Skills/Knowledge Required
A licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) required
Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of risk and resiliency factors for youth
Demonstrated understanding of youth mental health and the impacts of trauma
Experience working in school and community settings is highly desired
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google applications
For this role, COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of the job
Salary: $65,000
