Brilla Public Charter Schools is a network of elementary and middle schools that currently serve over 1,360 students from the Mott Haven and University Heights area and surrounding neighborhoods in the Bronx. We plan to grow our network from our five current campuses to eight over the next decade, reaching some 3,200 students in the Bronx. Position Overview
The content lead is a leadership team member whose primary responsibility is to align and ensure the execution of the curricular and instructional vision of Brilla Schools. As with all Brilla Leadership positions, this will also involve uplifting and furthering the Brilla Leadership Competency Model (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12WYN0vlXvejLFfk2mNcivEqBYU1qLGz8pwolf5D1f1Q/edit#gid=1548527235) in all aspects, as Brilla conceives of leadership holistically. Supervised by an Assistant Principal, the Content Lead serves as the content expert and planning authority for either all of the math or literacy components in the school, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment, high quality learning opportunities aligned to strategic priorities, and exceptional student performance and achievement across the content. Content Leads develop the content knowledge and planning capacities of grade-level content liaisons - ensuring that deep content knowledge and best pedagogical practice permeates the school (such as lesson plan internalization, looking at student work protocols, and assessment implementation). Successful Content Leads believe deeply in the potential of the classical form of education and facilitate the creation/revision of curricular resources to deepen student understanding of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness. Likewise, content leads coach and reinforce the behavioral competencies necessary for all leaders to excel, as articulated in the Brilla Leadership Competency Model.
This position requires a positive, flexible, solutions-oriented, organized, and reflective leader who can balance multiple roles and responsibilities with grace and virtue. Content Leads work in conjunction with the Director of Elementary Curriculum and other school leaders to ensure consistent quality of curricular materials. In addition to planning and coaching requirements, content leads maintain materials inventories and requisitioning, attend regular content meetings, and actively deepen their own knowledge of content, standards, and classical pedagogy. Brilla Content Leads must have a deep passion for student-engaged learning, a desire to accept, implement, and seek feedback, and a proven ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and responsibilities, while inspiring outstanding achievement in a fun and collaborative work environment.

Revise the centralized curricular materials grounded in classical content, grade-level standards, and best pedagogical practices aligned to the Brilla Schools curricular vision under the supervision of the Director of Elementary Content
Facilitate purposeful, regular unit and lesson studies that deepen content knowledge and pedagogical awareness for planners and grade teams and guarantees excellence in execution
Develop, internalize, and model-teach rigorous curricula that adhere to national and state standards and align with Brilla?s aggressive student growth targets
Lead the schools approach and implementation of test preparation and other internal assessments
Coach teachers to excellence in role competencies as well as behavioral competencies
Visibly live the Brilla Mission through consistent professional dress, modeling of core virtues, execution of professional norms, and enthusiastic, regular engagement in ongoing professional development and community-building

Design and facilitate Mission-in-Progress development sessions and workshop sessions as assigned by leadership
Foster and maintain productive, collaborative, and collegial working relationships with leaders, team members, staff members, parents, and community members: any relevant stakeholders, working to be exemplary Brilla leaders
Contribute to a positive school culture through attendance at Brilla-sponsored Culture Events, and regular, professional communication
Ensures and supports consistent implementation of classroom management and responsiveness strategies,
Plan, facilitate, and attend regular, mission-critical programming including Content Lead meetings, summer development sessions, data days, parent workshops, family conferences, and other opportunities
Commit to be available by phone after school hours until 7:00pm each workday to address any student or family questions or concerns (cell phone provided by school)

Facilitate engaging, purposeful coaching meetings with teachers with guidance from DEC and the Director of Instructional Development
Participate in central curriculum revision meetings and workshops to provide feedback and make active improvements to the curriculum and corresponding student materials
Actively and regularly analyze student content work in order to improve the quality levels of student outputs
Assist with and develop content scope and sequences aligned with the assessment calendar including but not limited to NWEA prep lessons and state exam testing materials and resources
Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with and leading students & colleagues from all cultural, economic and ability backgrounds
Organize and manage time and commitments efficiently to maximize productivity and intentionality throughout the school day and school year

Qualifications
Bachelor?s Degree or higher from an accredited institution, preferably in Literacy, Science, or Math
Possession of current teaching certification as an elementary or middle school teacher
Brilla Charter Schools teaching experience as evidenced by consistent, exemplary student performance data
Brilla Charter Schools planning experience as lead planner for a grade-level content
