*Position Summary: *The Senior College Coach plays a critical role in the cradle-through-college and careers mission of Children’s Aid Community Schools and Centers. The Senior College Coach provides ongoing, high-quality, data-driven supports to ensure that college bound participants not only enroll, but flourish in and graduate from college. Under the direction of the Manager of College Services, the Senior College Coach creates and facilitates programs for participants to explore all post secondary options and ensures that participants leave programs with an informed post secondary plan. In collaboration with the Workforce Team, the Senior College Coach is responsible for providing career exploration, leadership development, work readiness training and job placement services for youth and adults, which includes but is not limited to Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). As part of the College and Career Success team, the Senior College Coach is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Success Program, including scholarship, retention and persistence. The Senior College Coach role is an in-person position.

*Responsibilities: *

  • Manage persistence and retention, track and maintain regular contact with a caseload of youth their first year after graduating from Children’s Aid Schools, Centers and programs. **

  • Provide post-secondary pathway advising for students and families.

  • Lead groups and facilitate workshops for SYEP and support training programs and opportunities.

  • Outreach and track all graduates from the Youth Division schools, centers, and programs. Document student progress, proactively identifying issues and challenges to ensure student success.**

  • Assist and connect students to different resources, including academic, financial and/or personal support.

  • Work in partnership with centers, schools and programs to bridge the gaps in services as youth graduate from HS.

  • Curate and share professional opportunities; connect graduates with jobs, internships, and opportunities; provide support through the application, interview, and follow-up process;

  • Support development of work readiness programs that help support teens in their pathway to college and career goals. This includes developing internships, Extended Learning Opportunities (ELOs), creating job shadowing experiences and job development pre and post College graduation.

  • Work as a team to implement events around college and career access and success (Post-Secondary Pathway Fair, Career Panel, Summer Bridge, Networking).

  • Ensure service content data is entered into ETO and/or other online data platforms accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Utilize monitoring systems to track progress toward program outcomes and consistently review, analyze and use data to inform and improve staff capacity, scheduling, program dosage, program models, etc.

  • Attend monthly college access and success meetings, capacity building workshops, and other trainings as necessary.

  • Participate in on-going training and professional development provided by Children’s Aid and outside agencies to strengthen practice.

  • Performs other related duties as required for the success of the programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred in education, social work, counseling or related field

  • Experience working with youth ages 14 to 21 in schools or in a youth serving organization; experience working with underserved student populations including English Language Learners, students involved in the child welfare system, students living in poverty, and students who are homeless or marginally housed preferred

  • Track record of providing highly effect college admissions advising for low-income, first generation students

  • Proven track record of using data to inform and improve practice linked to positive program outcomes

  • Knowledge of US higher educational system

  • Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a time

  • Familiarity with NYC public school system, FASFA and other financial aid components pertaining to higher education admissions, and the college admissions process

  • Strong facilitation skills; comfort speaking in front of a large group

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with multiple people across programs

  • Excellent writing, research and computer skills

  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred
