Position Summary: The Summer Activity Specialist will partner with DOE/D-75 staff to provide a variety of enrichment activities for elementary or middle school youth in our Summer Rising 2022 program; in alignment with the goal to ensure equitable participation and supports for students with special needs.   Duties and Responsibilities: Please note that Phipps Houses and its related entities along with Phipps Neighborhoods, Inc. has adopted a COVID-19 vaccination policy to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees. In partnership with DOE teacher, establish a comfortable learning environment and implement clear, consistent age-appropriate expectations that extends across academic and enrichment programming. Develop or modify enrichment activities and prepare lessons that are appropriate for student ability levels. Support all areas of Summer Rising, including project based learning, health, wellness and social emotional learning, and digital literacy/STEAM. Attend and supervise students while on trips Maintain accurate participant attendance, activity and sign-out records Maintain classroom cleanliness and organization Model appropriate child development practices Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director Qualifications: HS Diploma or HSE; 3-5 years proven experience in activity area Experience with the design and implementation of group activities Experience working with students with specials needs The ability to work with young people at multiple grade levels and varying stages of development. Previous experience working in an urban environment Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer literacy Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred Enthusiasm, creativity and initiative A sense of humor and a sense of urgency
