As part of a multi-disciplinary team providing medical care, the Health Care Associates Supervisor, provides supervision to Health Care Associates with a concentration on efficiency and quality of patient care. Monitor patient flow, ensures quality customer services and performs other duties to assure the smooth running of the center. Responsible for oversight of patient appointment templates as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision/Productivity (60%)

• Supervises Health Care Associates connected with surgical and clinical services

to assure the quality of care given to PPNYC patients.

• Maintains positive working environment for staff to adequately perform their

activities and carry out their work assignments.

• Demonstrates knowledge of agency practice management system. Assures

proper recording of all pertinent information for each client. Responsible for

ongoing assessment of patient flow, and assessment of ability to accommodate

walk-ins.

• Maintains smooth and efficient system of patient flow with demonstrated expertise

in efficient and comprehensive use of electronic medical record.

• Assures the accuracy and completeness of center medical records. Reports

statistical information as required to the appropriate departments.

• Assist with the completion and follow-up of incident reports, including transfers to the hospital.

• Responsible for training, evaluation and scheduling of health care associates.

• Works effectively with volunteers, trainees and temp agency personnel.

• Performs other educational and experience related duties as required.

participates in achieving established revenue cycle goals.

Customer Service (20%)

• Assist with the handling patient calls relating to clinical and surgical services.

• As part of management team, accepts individual and joint responsibility for and

participates in overall health center efforts to achieve all goals set to improve

customer relations, increase customer satisfaction and promote repeat customer

visits.

• As part of management team, understands and commits to modeling excellent

customer service in all aspects of health care delivery. Accepts individual and joint

responsibility for and participates in overall health center efforts to achieve goals

and policies on professionalism, wait time in the clinic/on the phone, and the

system for addressing client complaints.

• Understands and commits to customer-oriented approach to health care delivery.

Compliance (20%)

• Assist with the quality and maintenance of surgical and clinical equipment and

supplies.

• Demonstrates a working knowledge of emergency procedures and directs

surgical/clinical service staff in the event of a medical emergency or an evacuation.

• Responsible for complying with all organizational and quality assurance guidelines and all pertinent government regulations, including, but not limited to infection control and OSHA regulations.

• As part of management team, accepts individual and joint responsibility for and

participates in health care center efforts to comply with all organizational and

quality assurance guidelines, and all applicable government regulations.

• Completes all responsibilities according to established protocols, policies and

standard practices in the areas of ADA and regulatory compliance programs such

as HIPAA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum education/requirements

• Minimum 4 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Ability to build and lead a team.

• Ability to multitask.

Licensures/Certifications

• none

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Assistant certification from an accredited school or program

• 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience

• Work experience in Sexual Reproductive Health

• Work experience in Phlebotomy, Urinalysis, Pregnancy Testing, Rapid HIV Testing

• Knowledge of Medicaid screening

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires prolonged sitting and repetitive tasks including use of a computer. Frequent standing, walking, bending. Must be able to walk up and down stairs. Requires lifting or moving of patients/supplies/equipment. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials. Requires the ability to hear and to communicate orally with others. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, and medical equipment and will require reaching, grasping, pushing and pulling.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in a health center environment. May require travel to other health centers, at times in inclement weather. Requires flexible schedule and during peak activity periods work in excess of 7.5 hours per day and/or 37.5 hours per week.
