The Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Good Shepherd’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) at DeWitt Clinton Community High School. The Program Coordinator contributes to the overall development, implementation and supervision of the program, as well as supports the goals of the Community School.
REPORT TO: Community School Director, DeWitt Clinton Community High School
HOURS: 35 Hours per week / Exempt
LOCATION: 100 W. Mosholu Pkwy S, Bronx, NY 10468
Oversee all daily operations of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).
Develop a culture that is cheerful, welcoming, and youth friendly.
Responsible for hiring, training and supervision of staff.
Create detailed policies and procedures for program operations.
Work with program staff to ensure work readiness trainings are of high quality, rigorous, and meet the needs and interests of students and business partners.
Work with Job Developer to develop a portfolio of business partners (with a focus on program priority employment sectors) and internship placement sites that respond to the needs and interests of participants.
Be the liaison with business partners during the summer.
Work collaboratively with GSS community school program and school leadership.
Develop a recruitment and retention plan in partnership with Community School Director and school leadership.
Monitor and manage program budget.
Ensure DYCD contractual requirements are met.
Attend external meetings and trainings with DYCD and DOE leaders as needed.
Work collaboratively with GSS central office support departments and provide information as needed in a timely manner.
Represent the agency on relevant external committees and work groups.
Some college credits required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Minimum three (3) years of related experience, including experience supervising or managing youth employment programs.
Familiarity with the NYC employment field and business sector(s) and industry(ies) relevant to the SYEP program.
Experience working with high-school aged students.
Strong relational skills and community engagement experience.
Track record of successfully engaging hard to reach youth
Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based youth and family development perspective.
