Summary
ATTENTION ALL APPLICANTS: Initially the Duty Station will be the selectee's home address (Work At Home position) until the opening of the Area Census Offices (ACOs) in Brookhaven, NY. At that time the employee will be required to report to the assigned ACO as their regular place of work.

In order to be considered, ALL APPLICANTS MUST RESIDE in Suffolk County, NY.

Relocation will NOT be paid.

Responsibilities

Responsible for supervising and managing the personnel, payroll, supply requisitioning, and other administrative activities.
Supervise the daily processing of payroll, personnel, and other administrative documents.
Form and maintain effective relationships with peers, subordinates, management, and other regional census center employees.
Identify and resolve problems and clearly communicate the action associated with the encountered problems.
Prepare, review, and analyse staffing and payroll reports and assure the administrative operations are conducted within prescribed time schedules.
Oversee payroll and personnel activities, help maintain the flow and quality of work to meet deadlines.
Request the approval of supply and material equipment as needed to ensure continuity of office operations.
Assist in setting up and closing the office, assuring minimal waste of excess supplies and equipment.
Travel Required
50% or less - Position requires 25% local travel and 25% overnight travel

Must be 18 years or older to be hired.
A Supervisory trial period may be required.
This is a Non-Bargaining Unit position.

Qualifications
NOTE: This position is advertised as an OPEN CONTINUOUS with 1 CUT-OFF date. Applicants that apply by the CUT-OFF date will be considered first. This announcement may close prior to the closing date. This announcement may also be extended if needed, and additional CUT-OFF dates may be set as requested by management. The first CUT-OFF date is March 18, 2019.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that the application submitted clearly indicates that they meet the qualifications listed below. To be eligible for this position, you must have the specialized experience or education.

EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have one year specialized experience for this position that includes training and delegating work to subordinates. Experience overseeing and providing guidance directly to staff. Experience working in a team environment to negotiate with others in order to secure support from multiple businesses and organizations. Experience communicating verbally and in writing with diverse populations. Experience setting priorities, and developing, monitoring, and/or analyzing detailed program/project requirements and implementation schedules. Experience reviewing staffing and payroll reports. Experience overseeing personnel and payroll programs and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment. Experience maintaining records and creating an organized system to maintain the flow and quality of work to meet deadlines.

OR

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in any area with Superior Academic Achievement OR one full year of graduate education directly related to the position.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
