GENERAL DUTIES
Performs supervisory and/or complex technical functions in laboratories in support of coursework.
Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs laboratory equipment
Determines equipment requirements; prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisition of equipment
Trains and supervises College Laboratory Technicians, College Assistants, and other laboratory staff
Manages the set up, maintenance, and organization of student laboratories
Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards
Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Kingsborough Community College of the City University of New York is seeking a Adjunct Senior College Laboratory Technician for the 2019-2020 academic year, to supervise the costume lab and serve as costume coordinator for a production season of four student shows.This position is within the Department of Communications and Performing Arts and reports to the Director of Theatre. The Theatre Arts Program has five full-time faculty members, a full-time Technical Director and a team of six to ten part-time faculty. the program is housed in excellent theatre facilities on a 76-acre beachfront campus.
Candidate will be expected to:
Oversee and execute the construction, alteration and maintenance of costumes for mainstage theatrical productions, assist guest costume designers and coordinate costuming needs for laboratory productions.
Prepare costume and performance laboratories for class use; supervise students working in laboratories for specific courses.
Maintain records regarding inventory and student lab hours and keep laboratory spaces in excellent condition and working order.
Assist with general theatre program duties
Sets up, maintains and organizes the costume shop laboratory and costume storage.
Serves as wardrobe supervisor and assistant for Theatre Arts Program mainstage productions and costume coordinator for laboratory productions.
Supervises the scheduling of laboratory spaces for students to fulfill required lab hours related to coursework.
Leads and coordinates the construction and maintenance of costumes for theatrical productions, as well as assisting in the execution other production requirements.
Provide additional technical theatre support for theatre classes and student projects.
Evening and/or weekend hours may be required during technical rehearsals, load-in and strike.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate degree may be substituted for two years experience, and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years experience. This position also requires the ability to direct train, and supervise others.
COMPENSATION
$34.87 per hour.
