SCO Family of Services Center for Family Life- Program Coordinator/Case Manager in Brooklyn, New York

CENTER FOR FAMILY LIFE, a nationally-recognized social service program in Sunset Park Brooklyn, is seeking a/Program Coordinator/and/Case Manager/to work with high school students and their families at Sunset Park High School. Our community-school partnership at this large public high school site provides a diverse range of daily/afterschool activities/as well as an/in-school/Advisory Program. Both program components are implemented by professional social workers, artists and young adults from the community, in collaboration with SPHS teachers.

Learn and Earnis ayear-round program, funded by the Department for Youth and Community Development, for high school juniors and seniors. The program provides participants with college preparation, career-readiness, leadership development, and a paid six- week summer internship.Our ideal candidate has knowledge and experience insocial group workandyouth developmentand will bring apassionforneighborhood-based workto enrich the lives of youth, families and community

_Responsibilities include but are not limited to:_

  • Work closely with Learn and Earn Program Director to develop and implement the overarching vision for the program including curriculum trips & events, and staff development
    • Support participant outreach, enrollment, engagement, and retention efforts for the Learn and Earn program;
  • Plan and co-lead afterschool groups for 11thand 12thgrade high school students, focused on teambuilding, college and career readiness, leadership development, life skills, and service learning;

    • Provide individual guidance, mentoring, and case management to Learn and Earn participants;
    • Supervise youth worker(s), AmeriCorps member, and/or interns
  • Partner with SPHS teachers to co-facilitate in-school advisory classes twice per week;

  • Assist in planning and implementation of family engagement/community events throughout the year including an overnight college tour, college nights for families, and fields trips throughout NYC

    • Build and support network of employers for the Summer Internship Program to ensure a meaningful summer work experience for youth participants;
    • Ensure compliance with Learn and Earn program regulations, including entering case notes and maintaining participant and program files.

  • Bachelor’s required, MSW strongly preferred
  • Interest and commitment to learning and working within a social group work model
  • Highly organized and able to manage time efficiently
  • Experience with (and passion for) leading activity-based groups of high school students
  • Positive energy, flexibility, a strengths-based perspective, and a sense of humor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience writing college and career readiness curriculum
  • Some program management experience preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish/English or Chinese/English a plus
  • Some evening and weekend hours required throughout the year, including overnight trips and 2 Saturdays in June
