Amplify CKLA Summer Intern in Brooklyn, New York

Amplify is seeking enthusiastic interns to join our team this summer to help us create and grow our innovative educational products.

Our ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written communication skills; a love for reading; a passion for helping young people understand issues of equity, diversity, and justice; and and be an eager team player willing to help out and learn. The Summer Intern should also be excited about education and building great products. Our summer program is a paid internship which runs between six to eight weeks, with start dates in June and July.

Responsibilities:

Attend Amplify CKLA content team meetings to learn more about Amplify products and services and make impactful contributions to product related projects

Write customer-facing documentation tailored to our audience based on user needs

Participate in hands-on training in a fast-paced, agile startup environment

Work with the content team to develop curricular materials for elementary English Language Arts. Potential projects include:

Researching diverse texts around topics for English Language Arts lessons

Create novel study materials for Grades 4-5

Working with the host of Science of Reading: The Podcast to research, plan, and produce episodes of the podcast

Recording videos to support virtual instruction for K-2 Read-Aloud texts

Researching primary sources to add diverse perspectives to different topics with existing lessons

Basic Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Available for 6 - 8 weeks during the summer

Knowledge of and interest in the education field

Preferred Qualifications:

Excellent verbal and written and communication skills

Ability to think critically about usability and suggest strategic improvements for content organization, particularly in the areas of early literacy, social justice, and diversity

Great work ethic with a desire to expand skill set

Fluency in Spanish

Detail-oriented, proactive, enthusiastic, with experience juggling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
