The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area Food Service Manager in Brooklyn, New York
Promote observance of moral emphasis of the program affecting children and staff.
Responsible to complete Orientation Sessions and attend all parent meetings.
Attend and contribute to Program Leadership & General Staff Meetings.
Responsible for sharing with the GAINS Program Directors and/or Corps Officers, all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Summer Program.
Supervision of all Summer Program Food Service Staff.
Ensure that all foods are at the required temperatures, in accordance with NYC DOMH Regulations.
Ensure that all Food Safety Practices are in place, at all times.
Ensure that all meals begin at there designated times and contact the GAINS Program Directors immediately, if a problem arises that will delay the meal.
Train staff and children in management of food service, as it pertains to them.
Responsible to assist in all aspects of food service that pertain to Summer Programming
Supervise set up and clean up of dining area.
Inspect dining area and supervise during meals. Address any roughhousing, inappropriate behavior or behavior that is unacceptable, with the staff members present.
Be mindful of the daily attendance numbers for each group and inform the cooks so adequate food is prepared.
Keep and verify accurate meal counts, in accordance withthe USDA Summer Food Service Programregulations.
Responsible for keeping daily inventories of stock, including milk, dry food and non-food supplies.
Make sure the dining hall is clean and ready for each meal.
Assign Food Service Staff to specific jobs and/or areas.
Be committed to the development of children spiritually, physically, educationally, emotionally and socially.
Have a willingness to work with all staff members regardless of their positions.
Be in accord with the camp aims and policies, being loyal to camp at all times.
Assist where needed for the benefit of the children and the smooth operation of camp.
Accurately complete and securely store all necessary reports for State and/or Federal Government inspection.
High School Diploma required; Associates preferred
Minimum of one year Food Service managerial experience preferred
Experience in a camp setting or an institutional food service setting
Ability to supervise children and staff
Ability to work well with others
Availability for the entire duration of the Summer Program Season
CompensationSalary is $13.50/HR
