CAMBA Monitor, Community Based (SYEP) in Brooklyn, New York

From homelessness prevention in Staten Island to supportive housing in the Bronx; from employment training in Manhattan to after school programs and college access in Brooklyn; from family shelter and support in Queens to increasing affordable housing across the city, CAMBA provides holistic services to help struggling New Yorkers stabilize their lives and become self-sufficient.

Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP): Through this New York City Department of Youth and Community Development sponsored program, CAMBA places youth ages 16 to 21 in minimum wage work experiences, and oversees their employment. Youth work for seven weeks during July and August, and placements are made in both public agencies and private non-profits. Types of work include clerical, custodial, teacher’s aides, library assistants, hospital and recreational aides. As a project sponsor since 1995, CAMBA distributes applications, conducts intake, develops jobs, and monitors employment.

What The Monitor  Does:

  • Through periodic telephone calls and site visits to employment locations, assure that youth clients are working appropriately with employers.

  • Through periodic telephone calls and site visits to employment locations, assure that employers are working appropriately with youth clients.

  • Provide conflict resolution between employers and employees, as needed.

  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Current undergraduate student.

Compensation: $20.00 hourly

When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: Full-time (30 hours per week) (From March 24th to August 30th)
