The Center for Urban Science and Progress at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a part-time, non-tenured instructor, for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Center for Urban Science at NYU Tandon (https://engineering.nyu.edu/about/explore-nyu-tandon) is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to the application of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in the service of urban communities across the globe. CUSP offers a master’s of science in applied urban science and informatics, and offers an advanced online certificate. Graduates come away with an understanding of new approaches to urban focused data science and informatics, and decision-making applications in the service of the city.
We invite applicants to teach one or more graduate courses. Faculty with teaching and expertise in the following areas are invited to apply:
Big Data Management (familiarity with MapReduce, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, and NoSQL solutions)
Data Visualization (familiarity with matplotlib, VTK and D3.js)
Database Management, Relational Databases, and SQL
Spatial statistics (familiarity with GIS/ArcGIS)
Statistical Computing (familiarity with R)
Urban Sensing (Sensing Technologies)
Urban Spatial Analysis
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Urban Science, Big Data Analytics, Computer Science, or closely related fields, and a record of teaching experience in these areas.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the contact hour rate for this position is $149.25. This rate is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 7902.
