NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering are hiring a Postdoctoral Research Scholar to start in Summer or Fall 2022.

We are looking for candidates from a broad variety of backgrounds, including those who have experience in database systems and big data management, or those who have experience in theoretical computer science and algorithms, preferably in sketching and streaming algorithms, or related topics.

The position would be supported by an NSF grant on large scale dataset search and dataset augmentation. The project involves a variety of implementation focused and theory focused directions, and the postdoc would be encouraged to pursue independent collaborations as well. Beyond Prof. Freire’s Visualization Imaging and Data Analysis Center (VIDA) and the Algorithms and Prof. Musco’s Algorithms and Foundations Group, NYU offers a unique environment for pursuing a postdoc in the data science, and New York City offers unmatched access to top academic institutions, industry research labs, and startups.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $58,500 - $90,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

The position would come with a competitive salary, full benefits, and opportunities for career development, including teaching opportunities if those are desired. The initial appointment would be for 2 years, with potential to extend to a 3rd.
