The Salvation Army Program Worker (Full-Time) Bensonhurst Corps in Brooklyn, New York
Overview
The Program Worker is responsible for assisting the Corp Officer and co work with the Administrative Officer to monitor, supervise, plan, create and organize daily activities for the Senior Center and to ensure all programs run smoothly throughout the day and during seasonal events.
Responsibilities
Assist the Corps Officer/Administrative Officer/Coworkers to resolve program conflicts and issues that may arise, especially crowd control.
Will be a point of contact between small group leaders and participants involved in program activities
Act as a liaison with outside related companies to provide seminars or programs to the center
Assist the Corps Officers /Administrative Officer in coordinating, instructing guidelines, monitoring, supervising, inspecting senior workers, janitors, and volunteers to keep the center clean and safe
Building a relationship and caring for the senior members
Co-working with other departments/programs as needed
Assist the Corps Officer and Administrative Officer’s overall planning and direction of the daily, monthly, yearly, and seasonal programs and prepare all materials and documents as deemed necessary
Do daily routine walks on each floor monitoring all activities
Make daily announcements during the program, keeping seniors informed of all activities and events
Assist the Corp Officer with the senior meals program (planning the meal menu and communicating with the restaurant vendors etc.)
Assist the Administrative Officer to managing the yearly new and renewal membership process (Collection of fees, registration, enroll member data etc.)
Assist the Corps Officers / Administrative Officer to prepare Senior Center monthly Newsletter and manage the monthly newsletter mailing and related works
Facilitating the front desk daily operations and overseeing the assistant program workers as needed
In absence of the Administrative Officer, you will need to substitute partial duties.
Planning and executing activities as all Senior Program (Example: Summer the Senior Star Lake Camp activity to collection of fees and application process, will also need to bring seniors to the camp etc.
Attend training and meetings for program works as appropriate
Assist Administrative Officer to prepare 2 fire drill sessions per year
Assist Corp Officer /Administrative Officer to typing Chinese & English Documents as needed
Create Form to fit the Program need.
May occasionally need to drive using Salvation Army vehicle to perform tasks/programs
Perform other duties as needed or as assigned by the Administrative Officer and Corps Officer
Obtain Certificate of Fitness and perform monthly visual inspection duties as needed
Keeping property in saving energy and routinely check on all exercise equipment, making sure it can function properly and is safe to use.
Keep all program inventory and related file in stock
Qualifications
High School or higher degree required
Willing to work under pressure
Must be Bilingual, able to speak and write in Chinese and English
Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, computer applications and typing in Chinese
Must be organized, goal oriented and able to multi-task
Must be a team player and have strong interpersonal skills
Willing to obtain Certificate of Fitness & First Aid/CPR as required
Able to handle all levels situation
Able to work Monday-Friday
Able to operate and drive vehicle (Driver’s License required)
