Project Leader - Consumer/Retail (The Boston Consulting Group, Inc. - Brooklyn, NY): Manage the design and development of long-term business strategies for consumer and retail clients in the areas of category management, production optimization, operating model design, and value creation in order to optimize revenue growth and organizational capability. Specific duties include: perform sophisticated market research, benchmarking, market sizing, modeling, forecasting, and decision analysis to identify growth opportunities; design and implement value capture plans tailored for retail companies including refinement of merchandising processes related to category management, sourcing, and supplier engagement as well as identification of growth levers across their value proposition, sales channels, and expansion plans; develop comprehensive go-to-market strategies for consumer and retail companies, factoring in distribution channels, retailer relationships, branding, and consumer insights to optimize product launches and market penetration; develop and execute category workshops for clients’ executive team to collect inputs from leadership, align on category strategy, and identify areas for support and strategy development; manage case team responsibilities including personnel assignments, research and analysis, and reports to clients; oversee and direct consultants and junior professional staff, and oversee project planning and preparation of outputs; and present findings to senior client management, and oversee business development and client relationships. Requires Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Management, Consumer Science, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience as a management consultant or business analyst which must include at least one (1) year of experience providing business strategy recommendations focusing on operational efficiency and revenue growth to companies in the consumer/retail sectors. Specific skills/other requirements (quantitative experience requirement not applicable to this section) - must possess the following: conducting internal belief audits and customer surveys as well as analyzing brand awareness to generate insights around companies’ positioning and competitiveness in the market, and develop implementation plans to achieve desired brand; providing recommendations on companies’ product assortments, price pack architecture, based on comprehensive analysis of competitive positioning, profitability metrics, and prevailing market trends; conducting segmentation analysis to identify performance targets and opportunity levers across store or customer segments, and conducting price elasticity analysis to understand exclusivity and saturation of specific product categories; planning and executing pilots from ideation to final result measurement phase, including concept creation, pilot scope alignment, construction coordination, training, monitoring, and casual measurements; supporting change management efforts when new category management initiatives are deployed, and ensuring transparent communication with the entire organization and suppliers; applying advanced economic and financial analysis theories including competitive cost and decision analysis, capabilities assessment, portfolio review based on financial reports, and experience and scale curve analysis; conducting advanced analysis of scale economies, seasonal effects on financial forecasts, impact of uncertainties on business outcomes, corporate financing policies, and evaluation of factors that influence a company's debt capacity; and managing individuals, teams and processes. Partial telecommute available. Must report to and reside within commutable distance of the listed BCG office. Domestic/international travel required (up to 80%) based on client/company need.
