Etsy, Inc. Senior Applied Scientist in Brooklyn, New York
Title-Senior Applied ScientistJob Duties: Use ML to build a rich, semantic understanding of the various kinds of content and inventory in Etsy’s marketplace. Build user models that allow us to better understand the unique interests, tastes, and shopping mission of Etsy’s buyers. Use representation learning to capture different kinds of relationships between Etsy’s inventory based on categorical, stylistic, or thematic similarity. Implement, evaluate, and deploy NLP algorithms to develop new labels for Etsy listings. Develop models with custom architecture or objective functions that target Etsy-specific problems, including but not limited to personalized ranking, revenue optimization, seller fairness, and seasonality. Build upon open source and the research community’s work, evaluate its merits, adapt and implement software for our purposes, and then scale/productionize the code. Prototype new algorithms and evaluate them in A/B experimentation on Etsy’s machine learning platform. Work cross functionally with product engineering teams and communicate your ideas and model capabilities to product managers. [REF# 327206]REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related field plus 2 years in each of the following: Experience with deep learning algorithms, including at least one of the following frameworks: TensorFlow, Keras, or PyTorch; Experience with coding in Python or C/C++; Experience in data processing MapReduce frameworks, including Spark or PySpark; Experience in writing, reviewing, and debugging production software engineering code; Experience in one or more of the following fields: signal and image processing, computer vision, deep learning, NLP, or machine learning; Experience in deploying Machine Learning algorithms in production environment; Experience with at least one of the following machine learning cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services.
